Product details

The FSR X 406 Short is a single-zone Force Sensing Resistor® optimized to use human touch to control devices for use in automotive electronics, medical systems, and industrial and robotics applications, among many others. FSRs are two-wire, robust polymer thick film (PTF) sensors that exhibit a decrease in resistance with increase in force applied to the surface of the sensor. The FSR 406 X Short is laid out in a square configuration with a 34 mm2 active area.

  • Sensing range from 0.3N to 50N

Category Overview

Force Sensing Resistor (FSR) Sensor Series

Force Sensing Resistor technology from Interlink is designed for teams that need repeatable pressure input with low profile integration options.

Interlink invented the Force Sensing Resistor and brought it to market in 1985. The architecture uses a printed interdigitated circuit and conductive layer that decreases resistance as applied force increases, enabling predictable, analog force interpretation in compact form factors.

The standard FSR portfolio includes high-performance options such as the UX 400 series (0.5 N to 150 N), the X 400 series (0.3 N to 50 N), and the original 400 series (0.2 N to 20 N). This range supports design-in across medical interfaces, industrial controls, robotics, and consumer electronics.

For rapid evaluation, Interlink also offers hardware development kits with sensor variations, overlays, and adhesive options so teams can validate force behavior before committing to production geometry and stack-up decisions.

  • Piezoresistive architecture with pressure-dependent resistance change
  • Wide dynamic sensing range options across UX 400, X 400, and 400 series
  • Low-profile construction for embedded interfaces and constrained assemblies
  • HDK pathway for fast proof-of-concept and integration validation
